About Fall Of Because

Formed in 1982 by Paul Neville and Ben Green, Fall of Because gained a third member in 1983 when Justin Broadrick joined. They developed in parallel with , for whom a young Justin also played and often performed live with them (Napalm Death members and guested on FoB's track 'Fight Show'). Over the next four years, the trio wrote a lot of material that became the base of much early Godflesh. The band disintegrated in 1987 when Justin left Napalm Death to play drums for , but got back together soon after and changed their name to . The band took it's name from a song (The Fall Of Because).

Fall of Because released some demo recordings before changing name to Godflesh: 1999's Life Is Easy compiles most of them. The guitar feedback and the martial, chugging distortion are recognizable as Broadrick's future works, though here he plays actual drums, the recording is more jam-like and the vocals revolve more about samples and uncontrolled howling. There are elements of their future career, but the free-form structures don't suggest coherent or fully developed ideas. not yet.
