Galling gives a memorable performance of an extraordinary Toccata. After a bold declamatory intro, he continues to a short melancholic Allegro. Throughout, his forthright ornamentation is superbly executed. Clarity and innovation being touchstone words. Adagio is gorgeous and bright (despite the minor key.)The harmony of the last eight measures is scrumptious. The Fuga is a wonderful demonstration of Bach's compositional genius. Beautiful! It moves, not only in tempo but spirit as well! Again, the harmony of the last eight measures is exciting, ending gloriously. Galling plays with a finesse and expressiveness as befits an artist of his standing. Wonderful performance!!
