About La Lupe
Cuban-American singer of several musical genres: boleros, guarachas and Latin soul in particular. Known for her energetic, sometimes controversial performances, she is considered by many to be one of the leading singers in the salsa music genre, also known as La Yiyiyi, or the Queen of Latin Soul.
She was born in Santiago de Cuba, 23 December 1936 and died in New York, 29 February 1992.

As much as I like the Doors, this is a wonderfully refreshing take. It's a fairly straight cover, but just feels like a totally different song.
La Lupe was the greatest best singer in the world in Spanish or English I love her so much that may She R.I.P buried at the St Raymont Cemetery in the Bronx. if you did love her come to see her grave. she was one of the most sexiest woman I have ever known
OK, this is how I hear the song in my head from now on. Jim who? I think I figured out why this cover is so good. When Morrison sings "I'm gonna love you..." it's a vow and a little pompous. Do you believe him? When La Lupe sings "I'm gonna love you..." she's stating a fact. She's not promising her love. It's there and she couldn't stop it if she tried. I can't believe this cover has stayed obscure for over 50 years. It's the way these lyrics were meant to be sung. The Doors brooding sound works great for People Are Strange, say, but not for this, not even with Jim Morrison's crooner voice.
